Be a Jubilee Navigator

As a Jubilee Navigator, you'll dedicate 8-12 hours a month to mentoring a Jubilant, guiding them toward stability and success. Your role includes monthly leadership meetings, ongoing training, and time spent building trust, setting goals, and connecting Jubilants with community resources. Additionally, we also provide support through mentors focused on a specific project or passion area, meeting 1-4 hours per month.

Whether you're helping with transportation, goal-setting, or simply sharing a cup of coffee, your mentorship will be tailored to their needs. By fostering authentic relationships, you'll empower Jubilants to build the skills and support systems they need to thrive. Make a meaningful impact in your community—become a Jubilee Navigator.

Monthly meeting with Jubilee Leadership

30 minutes
Share updates on your mentorship experience, review the relationship and receive feedback, submit necessary documentation, and ask any questions you may have. Meetings can be attended in person or virtually, depending on your preference.

Monthly Training

2 hours
Typically held on the first Sunday of most months at South Naz, these sessions offer a space for mentors to discuss client challenges anonymously with peers. Attendance at 2 out of every 3 meetings is expected. The training focuses on key areas like empathetic communication and effective support for disadvantaged community members. This mentor support group is also open to the public.

Relationship Building

1 hour

Spend time together simply enjoying each other's company to foster trust and openness. This time encourages authenticity and brings energy to the relationship. Activities like coffee chats, bible study, or hiking are suggested, along with other options that promote meaningful conversation. Optional conversation prompts will be provided to help guide discussions.

Advocacy and Accountability

30 Minutes to 1 Hour
Understand what effective accountability entails in this relationship. Act as a supportive listener for challenges and assist with problem-solving. Discuss with Jubilants their needs, such as hygiene products or appropriate seasonal clothing. If necessary, provide support during calls to agencies for programs like CMH, Medicaid, or Food Stamps. These tasks can also be integrated into other activities, such as relationship building or community connections.

Goal Setting and Evaluation

30 Minutes to 1 Hour
Set at least one goal for the month, the year, and five years. Use this time to celebrate achievements or reflect on any challenges. Assist Jubilants in breaking down goals into manageable steps, and complete goal evaluation forms together.

Working Toward Goals

1 Hour
Dedicated time to work on 1-2 previously identified goals together. Examples include reading a book, submitting job applications, learning to cook, or exercising. The activities will be guided by the Jubilants’ interests and needs.

Connection to Community

1 to 2 Hours
Aim to expand their network and community by connecting them with positive and supportive influences. Assist in finding or arranging extracurricular activities based on their interests. Facilitate opportunities to engage with the community, focusing on activities often inaccessible to those in poverty. Examples include horseback riding, go-karting, short vacations, lessons, joining clubs, dining out, pursuing art, attending sports events, and music festivals.

Building a Support System

30 to 90 Minutes
Work on setting goals to develop their ideal support system. Outline steps to achieve these goals and give the Jubilant time to reflect on their current community influences, personality, thoughts, habits, and behaviors. Assist them in identifying positive and supportive influences in their life and coach them in building relationships with these healthy connections.

Transportation

30 to 90 Minutes
Provide Jubilants with transportation to appointments, job interviews, community events, and other enrichment opportunities.
