About the event
4/15/2026 UPDATE:
Community Conversations may be on pause, but the vision behind them is still moving forward. This year, we developed a community engagement plan to build on what these gatherings started: creating ongoing spaces for connection, learning, and action. While implementation is currently on hold, we believe deeply in this work and are seeking support to make it possible. You can explore the proposal here and reach out if you’d like to be part of bringing it to life.
The City of Lansing’s recent homelessness study reinforces the importance of this approach, outlining key recommendations related to housing, services, and system coordination. Notably, the study calls for increased focus on “community integration”—ensuring people not only access housing, but remain connected, supported, and included. Jubilee’s community engagement work and broader vision are designed to directly support this goal by creating intentional spaces for relationship-building, participation, and belonging as essential components of long-term stability.

Community Conversations — On Pause, But Not Forgotten
From 2021 to 2024, Jubilee hosted OPERATION END HOMELESSNESS: Community Conversations — open, honest meetups where we talked about real-life issues like poverty, homelessness, generational trauma, substance use, harm reduction, boundaries, shame, and how to show up for our LGBTQ neighbors.
These conversations were designed for anyone — whether you were just getting to know Jubilee or you’d been part of the work for a while. Folks left with new insights, deeper connections, and simple ways to offer meaningful support to the vulnerable people in their lives.
Right now, Community Conversations are on pause. It’s one of those things that takes a lot of hands and hearts to pull off, and we’re still growing the team to make that possible. If you’d like to help bring them back, we’d love to have you! Whether you can greet guests, help plan, or just bring snacks — you’d be making a difference. Email us at Events@LTownJubilee.org if you'd like to be a part of bringing back OPERATION END HOMELESSNESS: Community Conversations!
